Every photograph on this site is a real photograph of a real cat. None is AI-generated. Most were retrieved from Wikimedia Commons and are used under the license shown — if you reuse one of those, carry the same attribution and license. Two were supplied by the people who care for the cats, with permission and not under a Creative Commons license: those are credited to their source and are not licensed for reuse.

Full-bleed page banners

Eight Commons photographs, one per page, cropped to 3:2 and used as the banner behind each page’s opening. The British Shorthair has had a strong warm color cast neutralised and its exposure lifted; nothing else was retouched.

These two were supplied by the people who care for the cats, for use on this site, and are shown with the source named. They are not stock images and they are not licensed for reuse.

What these photographs are, and are not They are decorative. They appear across the site as artwork. They are not illustrations of cats with this infection, and they are not a breed list. Any cat can get it. The risk factors in the published data are housing density and age — catteries, shelters, rescues and multi-cat homes — not breed. A photograph of a Maine Coon on the front page is a design choice, not a statement about Maine Coons.

None of the cats pictured is known to have been infected, and none was photographed for medical illustration.

Images have been cropped to a consistent 4:3 and resized for layout, with one exception: the nine full-bleed page banners keep a 3:2 shape, because a wide strip cut from a 4:3 frame takes the top of the cat's head with it. The British Shorthair banner has also had a strong warm color cast neutralised and its exposure lifted. No other alteration was made, and no photograph has been retouched to change what it shows.
